H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) was established in 1983 with the intent of developing the premier company-sponsored enthusiast organization in the motorcycle industry. Finishing 1983 with a membership of 33,000 the number of H.O.G. members now exceeds 500,000. Approximately 80% of all members are from the U.S., 5% from Canada, 10% from Europe, and the remaining members from other countries, including Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. There currently are 900 H.O.G. chapters around the globe, approximately 30% of which are located outside the U.S.

Most H.O.G. chapters hold monthly meetings, organize recreational rides, and participate in fund-raising activities. The Muscular Dystrophy Association has been the charity of choice since H.O.G.'s inception, and many chapters will raise funds for a variety of local needs, such as medical care for needy individuals or Toy Runs for underprivileged children. Individual members also keep up with the national organization through the official publication of the Harley Owners Group, Hog Tales. This bimonthly magazine contains information about club benefits, services and events, as well as updates on what is happening at Harley-Davidson, in motorcycle racing and in the travels of club members.

Probably the most important benefit, to the company as well as H.O.G. members, is H.O.G. rallies. The rallies bring H.O.G. members together to celebrate the Harley lifestyle and, in the process, clearly separate Harley-Davidson from all other motorcycle manufacturers. Hawaii H.O.G. Chapters' 5th annual and state rally is being held on October 1st, 2000. It promises to be the best event of the year, and all of us at Honolulu Hawaii H.O.G. are looking forward to seeing you there.
