Daytona and Key West
We rode down to Daytona early for Biketoberfest and met up with Randy and Shirley. Hurricane Irene, I think, was passing through Daytona as we spent the night in Gainesville. The next morning we went to Tomoka State Park to check out the campsite. There were a lot of small limbs down and power outages so we opted to ride to Key West while they tried to regroup.
I made a wrong turn on the Interstate in Miami and ended up along some area where the big Cruise ships dock. It was well worth it, as I've never seen one that close. I got new directions and made a very bad choice - I got off onto Hwy 1 instead of going all the way over to the Toll road - very bad choice. We slowly moved along for about 45 minutes until we got south of Miami.
It was a pretty nice ride the rest of the way to Key West. We looked around for a Tiki bar and found one on the way back to Daytona the next day.
When we got to Miami I took the Toll road and I can't imagine why all those people sit on Hwy 1 instead of the Toll road. Traffic was thin and moving well most of the way up.
When we got back to the camp site they had power and most of the stuff cleaned up, I guess they're used to it. The mosquitoes were hungry and a large tree a couple of sites over decided to fall then Randy said he was ready to go someplace else. We all decided to stay. Randy hauled our tent down there for us - what a guy - so we set it up and headed back into town. It didn't seem nearly as crowded as Bike Week but that's fine with me.
Shortly after we called it a night the rain came and I remembered it's been a long time since we water proofed the tent. Water slowly seeped in and it was so late that we didn't want to wake up anyone, besides it will probably quit soon. Well it's kind of like delaying the stop to put my rain gear on, before I know it I'm so wet there isn't much point. The next day was cool and cloudy so the tent wasn't drying and Darlene and I had to head home for the Halloween Party. Randy said he would take care of the tent later - what a guy.

Where's the dead end sign?

Isn't this a beautiful campsite? Ask Randy about it sometime.

Finally a Tiki bar

A couple of other bikers in Key West except they didn't have motors
